The Pond
The pond is a key component of the Stephen D. Home. In addition to providing recreation, such as fishing, the pond will function as part of an ecosystem.
The pond will collect stormwater runoff via the many swales and by porous pavement and pavers. The edge of the pond will consists of wetlands that helps filter the water naturally. The main pond will function as a large mass providing radiant heating and cooling of the lodge facility.
The pond will also provide an irrigation source for outdoor recreation areas and sustainable gardens.
